How can i get an xray done w/out a dr.'s note or referral?

something is wrong with my foot and I know someone who would understand/diagnose off the x-ray but he doesn't have the means to get the x-ray done. the more I walk, the more swollen my foot gets and the more pain it's in. There is a small red spot on my foot and that is the only place that isn't swollen and there's a sharp pain when I try to curl my toes under. I had surgery when I broke my "growth plate" in my foot and had a screw put in. I have broken that foot 2x since then. (1st time I broke it and it started healing wrong and I couldn't walk on it anymore then the 2nd time it had to be rebroken and set properly.) any ideas of what may be wrong with my foot?
