Help from schizophrenics?

ok so I've been to a doctor who passed on information that I'm schizophrenic they're setting up yet another referral. What's going to happen to me? am I going to be sent to a mental institute? will I miss school? will I have to spend some time in hospital? my main issue is will I be allowed to see a pro and get meds and go to school the follow day? I'm freaking out right now so please don't comment stupid things and yes I know it's a lot of questions :)
