Can you help me understand the difference between a social worker and a psychiatrist?

I specifically asked for a refferal to see a psychiatrist because I've been to a social worker in the past and I didn't like the way she rushed me when I was talking to her. My insurance company gave me a referral to see a social worker again. What is the difference between the two, their methods of counseling and education wise.
